Things We’ve Seen #2

A small collection of the bits and bobs we’ve spotted this week. If you’ve noticed, or even written, something that you would like us to link to please do feel free to leave the link as a comment with a note describing what it’s all about.

  • Channel Four has an upcoming 10 part series Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K Dick starring Bryan Cranson. As ten stand alone dramas there’s everything to look forward to here (Guardian).
  • Ten classic female fantasy authors is a really nice little list promoting women authors. I had no idea that Andre Norton was a woman, but maybe I’m the last one to find out (Grey Dog Tales).
  • Written some time ago but only just spotted here: Michael Moorcock’s guide to writing a book in three days. Blimey (Wet Asphalt).
  • Author Emma Newman discusses time travel, feminism and whether women are being given their proper place on the SF tables in book shops (Fantasy Book Cafe).
  • McKenzie Wark on “Utopian Realism”  (Public Seminar).
  • How Afrofuturism mixes social justice and science fiction (PBS / Video).
  • China Mieville has revealed that he once made a pitch to reboot Iron Man. As expected it is weird, Marxist and wonderful (Gizmodo).
